Operation: Save Santa up and running in Ottawa!
Dec. 18, 2007
"This unfortunate incident has rallied Canada Post employees," said Moya Greene, President and Chief Executive Officer at Canada Post. "I am very proud of every Canada Post employee involved in the effort in Ottawa, and of the others across Canada who continue to honour the tradition and magic of this program."
"We had volunteers in on Saturday and we've been running full steam," said Cindy Daoust from the Santa Letter-writing program. "We happily reported to Santa that all of his mail will be delivered to the North Pole in plenty of time for him to respond before Christmas Day."
In the Ottawa area alone, Santa can receive up to 2,000 letters each day but Canada Post elves are up to the task. "We have volunteers who are giving up breaks, lunch hours and time before and after work to make sure that we stay on top of the volume," Daoust added. "This program will have the successful conclusion it deserves - both in Ottawa and across Canada."
