Question

What can I do if some of my mail is being incorrectly redirected?

  • Someone recently moved out of your residence and your mail is being redirected along with theirs.
  • You filed a Change of Address but some of the redirected mail you’re receiving is for someone else.

Answer

Keep the following in mind regarding our Change of Address service:

  • Letters are redirected for the names on your Change of Address form.
  • When a Change of Address is submitted, it is either for an individual, family, or business. If the previous resident shared your last name and filed a family Change of Address, then all mail bearing that last name will be redirected.

What you can do

  • If you share a last name with someone who mistakenly submitted a family Change of Address, an amendment can be filed according to how the service was originally purchased:
  • If you do not share a last name with the previous resident or you’re receiving someone else’s redirected mail, contact us online and we’ll investigate.

Are you a business with a Canada Post customer number?

  • Or you can call us to report the issue.
